The Black National Anthem kicked off Sunday’s Juneteenth observance at Brockton City Hall, an event which included an Official Proclamation from Mayor Robert Sullivan.

Senator Ed Markey spoke about his efforts to get the holiday Federally recognized, a task achieved roughly two years ago.
Sullivan also announced efforts by the city to create a Black History Trail.
