The Coast Guard will be out in force this weekend to ensure that the waterways are safe as part of Operation Dry Water.
Kevin Ritchie, a Public Affairs Officer with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, tells WATD News there is often an increase in boater traffic over the holiday weekend.
And Ritchie says there are stiff penalties for those caught boating while impaired.
Ritchie says if you see suspicious activity you can contact the Coast Guard through VHF Channel 16, the Coast Guard App, or by calling 9-1-1.
