In Plymouth, the County Commissioners met in executive session on Thursday to sign a lease agreement with Boston South Development for the use of the County Wood Lot—and that agreement includes revenue sharing with the 27 Plymouth County communities.
WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more.
Commissioner Jared Valanzola explains the revenue sharing aspect of the agreement:
“Plymouth County will receive 12% of gross profit generated at that property—of which 9% will be retained by Plymouth County—3% will be distributed to all member communities from Abington to Whitman and every town in between for them to use as they see fit.”
Valanzola says that Boston South Development is expected to sign the lease very soon:
“We’re expecting Boston South to be in at some point by the end of this week—early next week—to affix their signature.”
And a thoroughbred horse track continues to be part of the development plan:
“A thoroughbred horse track is on the table as a potential use, but again, as we said before, that’s due diligence that the developers are going to do.”
What’s the status of the $200,000 payment by Boston South that was due by July 1st?
“The County has received that payment,” said Valanzola. “We’re holding it in escrow again as they do their due diligence phase, but that payment has now been received.”
The County Commissioners meet next at 5:30 p.m. on August 25.
