Duxbury Police say two officers suffered minor injuries, and a man with a knife was arrested.
Police Chief Steven McDonald says 37-year-old Johnny Lewis, Jr. of Saugus is facing multiple charges.
Tuesday morning, officers saw a man acting erratically with a knife near 2 Tremont Street. A detective in an unmarked cruiser saw the man trying to jump in and out of traffic.
At one point, the man ran towards the highway and tried to gain access to two vehicles.
More officers responded to the scene, and Lewis placed the knife on the hood of a police cruiser.
Police tried to put him in handcuffs, but a “significant struggle,” ensued. Lewis began to lunge for the knife, and two officers suffered minor injuries. The officers were transported to the hospital, released, and are back on duty.
Lewis was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
He’s facing charges that include Disorderly Conduct, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.
