Speakers on the Charter Commission meeting agenda include the Director of Planning Lee Hartmann, Birgitta Kuehn, Planning Board Chair and Steve Bolotin who is a Planning Board member and also chairs the Master Plan Task Force.
Bill Abbott, Chairs the Charter Commission, and he’s interested in an update concerning the development of the Master Plan:
“We want to see exactly where they are in the process—and be sure we’re all on the same page here that the Master Plan has got to be the center of everything.”
So, the thought is that the new Charter—and the Charter Commission is charged with developing this document—will reinforce the idea that the Master Plan is the guiding principal by which all decisions are made relative to planning:
“The Master Plan becomes the compass. Everything we do should be in accordance with the Master Plan. Unfortunately, Plymouth, like so many other towns, does not adhere to its Master Plan—over the years it kinds of ignores it,” said Abbott. “When this town prospers is when you have a plan and everybody follows it.”
The Master Plan for the Town of Plymouth has not been updated since 2006.
The Charter Commission meets at Town Hall on Monday night, July 11th at 7:30 p.m.
