Braintree police say a confused, elderly person drove her vehicle onto the second floor of the South Shore Plaza.
Police started receiving calls around 11:45 Thursday morning.
Deputy Police Chief Tim Cohoon says when officers arrived, they located a late-model Lincoln MKX. The woman stopped the vehicle, and bystanders were talking with her.
Officers and a mental health clinician evaluated the driver, and she was transported to the hospital.
Police are requesting an immediate threat license suspension from the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Charges have not been filed at this time.
Cohoon says a door opened from the parking garage, and the woman drove her vehicle onto the pedestrian bridge. Due to a recent accident, safety bollards were missing at the entrance.
She slowly entered the mall, turned left, and drove about 60 yards. There was minor damage to the vehicle after a planter and other items were knocked over.
There were no other injuries reported.
