Middleboro baseball is one of ten teams remaining in the Little League World Series.
Back home, hundreds of people gathered for a watch party at the Boston Tavern, with an excited crowd cheering them on.
Middleboro resident and coach, Jesse Wright, spoke with WATD. He says it’s a close-knit community, their diamond is known as the Field of Dreams.
He says two years ago, baseball was taken away due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now these kids are achieving a dream.
There were 6,000 teams from around the world started this summer, and Middleboro is one of ten remaining.
Eight-year-olds, Declan Alchorn and Jackson Newhook, spoke with WATD.
Middleboro is the first Massachusetts team to reach the Little League World Series since Peabody in 2009.
1994 was Middleboro’s last appearance in the double-elimination tournament.

Middleboro lost the opening game, 5-3, to Nolensville, Tennessee. They’re still in the tournament, and will face the loser of the Mid-Atlantic/Southwest game. They’re set to play next on Saturday at 7 p.m., on ESPN 2.
