West Bridgewater FD Quickly Extinguishes Fire after Lightning Strike

The West Bridgewater Fire Department says a lightning strike caused a fire at a home on Walnut Street.

Crews responded to the scene around 5:37 p.m. Friday.

Arriving firefighters found a smoke condition in the home, with smoke alarms sounding.

They found fire in the walls of the home, and a working fire assignment was announced.

An aggressive attack was made, and the blaze was quickly extinguished, limiting damage to the home.

There were no injuries on scene.

Mutual aid from Brockton and Easton assisted West Bridgewater.

The fire department says this incident highlights the importance of working smoke detectors, which helped lead to the quick notification.
