Scott Petersen, the Assistant Superintendent for the Plymouth County Bureau of Criminal Investigations, and Retired Director Bob Foley joined WATD to discuss how techniques have changed over the years.
Petersen has been with the Sheriff’s Department since 1990, and now serves as a supervisor with the BCI.
Foley started his career in forensics in 1971 in Barnstable County, and worked in Broward County, Florida for more than two decades.
DNA evidence is now leading the way for investigations, especially in older cases, where evidence has been preserved.
There’s a new unit that’s designed to analyze cell phone data, and investigations including child pornography and sexting cases.
