A crowd of the Save The Bay Coalition protesters stood outside Plymouth Town Hall before Monday’s Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel meeting.
Protesters are concerned about the potential of Holtec, the company in charge of decommissioning the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant, dumping radioactive water into Cape Cod Bay.
Art Desloges, member of the Massachusetts Sierra Club, spoke to WATD about his concerns.
Dr. James Conca, who spoke at the NDCAP meeting, says tritium in the water is not a threat.
Conca says that tritium is a radioactive material that results from nuclear power plant operation, and naturally occurs in the atmosphere.
State Senator Susan Moran spoke at the meeting, and wants an impartial third party to test the water before it is released.
