Red Line commuters face delays and shuttle buses were called in after two people were found dead near Wollaston Station.
MBTA Police say that at approximately 6 a.m. Monday, the operator of a Red Line train reported seeing two people on the northbound Red Line just north of Wollaston Station.
Crews were called to the scene and emergency personnel found a man and woman, both of whom were deceased.
Police say the adult male and female trespassed along the right of way between North Quincy Station and Wollaston Station and intentionally placed their bodies between the outside running rail and the third rail.
This is defined as a “limited confined space” and a preliminary investigation is suggesting that both individuals came into contact with the third rail.
Officials say if you or loved one is in crisis you should call the Crisis Lifeline at 988, the service is available 24 hours a day/seven days a week.
The MBTA says shuttle buses are being phased out and regular service has resumed with delays.
