A Braintree man receives a prison sentence following his conviction on gun and drug charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that 32-year-old Martin Angomas and 23 others were charged in June 2020 as part of Operation Snowfall, a multi-year investigation into drug trafficking activities conducted by members of a Boston-based street gang members and their associates.
The charges stem from an investigation that began in November 2018 regarding drug trafficking activities in a multi-apartment public housing development known as Commonwealth Development in Brighton.
It has been alleged that the defendants assumed control over multiple apartments, where they stored, cooked, packaged and sold drugs.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Angomas was identified as a drug distributor and supplier and was observed communicating with, and meeting with, other alleged suspects to conduct a drug deal.
A search of his residence uncovered ammunition, cocaine base (crack cocaine), two loaded firearms and over $360,000.
At that time Angomas had a prior conviction punishable by a more than one year in prison.
He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine and to possessing ammunition as a convicted felon and was sentenced to four years in prison and three years of supervised release.
