In Plymouth, the upcoming Town Meeting will be the first in person town meeting since 2019. There have been six virtual meetings of the town’s legislative body since then. However, Town Moderator Steven Triffletti has designed a hybrid meeting of sorts.
Bobbi Clark has more…
Town Moderator Steven Triffletti says this town meeting will feel like
a hybrid meeting…
“…although it is an in person Town Meeting. The hybrid model is not yet approved at the state level and so Plymouth has a choice to be able to have an in person town meeting or participation by remote town meeting. The Select Board has voted unanimously that town meeting be in person.”
However, Triffletti has planned a Town Meeting at Plymouth North High School to accommodate both members who wish to be in person without a mask, and those who do not.
“There will actually be three rooms, because in addition to the Center for Performing Arts, and the mask-only room, which would be otherwise known as the band room, there would be third room, that being the library, for the public.”
The majority of attendees will be in the auditorium, called the Center for Performing Arts:
“In the Center for Performing Arts, we will welcome Town Meeting members, the Select Board, the Advisory and Finance Committee, department heads, and chairs of other boards and committees.”
So, how will people in those three rooms communicate with each other?
“There will be a video feed and an audio feed in each of the three rooms and it will be possible for Town Meeting members in either room to be able to observe and hear Town Meeting members and the public in one of the other rooms.”
Town Meeting begins at 8 a.m., October 15 at Plymouth North High School.
