Homes Evacuated in Wareham after Gas Leak

The Wareham Fire Department says multiple homes were evacuated after a gas leak in town.
According to a statement, Tuesday morning around 9:14, crews responded to the leak on Swifts Beach Road.
A utility company working nearby caused the leak, and nearby homes were quickly evacuated.
Onset, Wareham EMS, and Marion provided station coverage and mutual aid during the incident.
Nearby homes reported gas odors, and firefighters checked homes with meters to ensure the safety of residents.
National Grid secured the leak around 4:09, but fire department crews remained in the area.
