Bobbi Clark has more…
County Commissioner Greg Hanley:
“We invited our colleagues from County Donegal over to visit with us on an economic summit in the areas of business, industry, tourism and culture and we toured the Pilgrim Hall as a welcome to our invitation to become a sister County with Plymouth County.”
Garry Martin, is Donegal’s Director of Services for Economic Development:
“We were blown away—the Mayor of Donegal, Councilor Liam Blaney and I— we’re really interested in exploring what the areas of common collaboration might be and certainly, having heard from a number of the presenters today, we look forward to working with the Town of Plymouth and everyone here and exploring all of that.”
Peter Collins is President of the Massachusetts Association of County Commissioners, he talks about the visitors from Donegal:
“Well, they were wonderful, it’s wonderful to have them here and we had never been in this museum—it’s a beautiful facility and we’re thrilled to be in Plymouth.”
Executive Director of the Pilgrim Hall Museum, Donna Curtin:
“We were able to show our guests the remains of the ancient shipwreck, the Sparrow Hawk, that is believed to be the vessel that carried the first known Irish immigrants here to New England—they stayed for a year in Plymouth Colony, with the Pilgrims—believe it or not—and the shipwreck is in the Collection at Pilgrim Hall.”
