Police are searching for a man wanted in connection to the murder of a married couple at their home in Marshfield.
Listen to the press conference from the Marshfield Police Department with Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz, Police Chief Phil Tavares, and State Police Colonel, Chris Mason:
Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz says the couple were discovered after a call for a well-being check on Tuesday night to 75 Gotham Hill Drive, in Marshfield.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of a male and female, with obvious signs of trauma,” said Cruz. They were determined to be deceased.”
He said the victims were identified as 70-year-old Carl Mattson, and his wife, Vicki Mattson, who would have turned 71 on Wednesday.
“Both of the victims were stabbed and bludgeoned to death,” said Cruz. “The Medical Examiner has accepted jurisdiction, and will determine the cause and manner of death at a later time.”
Cruz said they are currently looking for a suspect, 27-year-old Christopher Keeley, who goes by the nickname “Crispy.”
Keeley was acquainted with the Mattsons, Cruz said this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
Police Chief Phil Tavares said Keeley may have altered his appearance, or dyed his hair red.
“If you have any idea where he could be, please call 9-1-1 and report it to us,” said Tavares.
He is believed to have fled the area in a Jeep Wrangler with license plate number 7490 HT.
The State Police say Keeley is white, about 5’7” tall, and 140 pounds. His last known address was 1088 Pleasant Street, in Weymouth.
“We have considerable resources that we’re bringing to bear on this investigation,” said Mason. “We’re currently at the scene on Gotham Hill Road, we’re processing that scene for forensic evidence. We have a number of investigators that are assigned to this investigation, chasing down leads.”
