Bill Wilhelm, the award’s namesake, was WATD’s first Sports Director. He oversaw and participated in four decades of high school football, basketball, and hockey broadcasts, and hosted the weekly Sports Exchange talk show, which has continuously run throughout the station’s 45 year history.
A panel of local experts convened to select the semifinalists, finalists, and eventual winner of the inaugural Bill Wilhelm Award.
The award’s three finalists will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 6 during The Main Event with Quinn Kelly on 101.1 WBMS/1460 AM. The program airs live from 6 to 8 p.m.
At a date of yet to be determined, WATD will announce the inaugural winner of the Bill Wilhelm Award live on the Sports Exchange.
