One woman was has died after a man fled a motor vehicle stop in Middleborough.
Massachusetts State Police say that shortly after 2 p.m. Monday members of a State Police narcotics task force attempted to stop a motor vehicle in Middleborough that was driven by a target of an ongoing investigation, later identified as 34-year-old Hector Bannister-Sanchez of Medford.
He fled the attempted stop in a 2017 Toyota Highlander driving away at a high rate of speed.
State Police say task force members, who were in unmarked cruisers, did not pursue him.
The Highlander then crashed into another vehicle on Kingman Rd. in Taunton and members of the task force responded to the crash scene with other state police and local police.
The adult female driver sustained fatal injuries.
Following the crash Bannister-Sanchez fled on foot but was located and detained by bystanders and a State Trooper.
He was transported to Morton Hospital for potential injuries and remains under police guard and State Police say he will face criminal charges.
