A Brockton woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her two sons.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that 48-year-old Latarsha Sanders received her sentence of two Mandatory Life Terms Without the Possibility of Parole following her conviction Tuesday for the murders of eight-year-old Edson Brito and five-year-old La’son Brito.
Brockton Police received a 911 call on February 5, 2018 for a medical emergency at 247 Prospect St.
Upon arrival they found Sanders outside and she was reported to be “distraught and combative.”
She was taken for a medical evaluation and a search of the apartment located the two boys wrapped in bedding after having been stabbed multiple times.
The DA’s office says that Sanders told them the killings were part of a ritualistic incident.
A knife found in the kitchen sink was determined to be the murder weapon.
The conviction on Wednesday followed a nine day trial where she was also convicted of Witness Intimidation and sentenced to 9-10 years in State Prison, to run concurrent.
