Rabbi Alfred Benjamin, of Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills in Milton, led the ceremony dressed as one of the heroes of Chanukah.
Rabbi Benjamin says that while some proposed celebrating Chanukah by lighting all eight candles and going down to one that would remain on the holiday’s eighth day, a prominent rabbi disagreed.
Free dreidels and candles were handed out as part of the event.
Chanukah will end on Monday night.
