Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz says a Duxbury mother has been charged with the murder of her two young children.

Lindsay Clancy, 32, is charged in connection to the deaths of 5-year-old Cora Clancy, and 3-year-old Dawson Clancy.

Cruz says Duxbury police responded to a 9-1-1 call around 6:11 p.m. Tuesday, for a report of a suspected suicide attempt of a female resident who had jumped from a window of a home on Summer Street.

“Upon arrival, Duxbury Police and Fire located the woman. She was treated on scene, and transported to a local hospital for treatment, where she remains at this time,” said Cruz. “She has been identified as Lindsay Clancy, age 32.”

First responders located three children in the home, unconscious. Preliminarily, it appears they were strangled. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of the deaths.

Cora Clancy and Dawson Clancy were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

A seven-month-old infant was transported to a Boston hospital, where he remains.

Cruz says investigators have been working around the clock, and developed probable cause to charge Lindsay Clancy with murder.

“Lindsay Clancy is being treated at a Boston hospital, as soon as able, we’ll be arraigning her on the two charges of murder in the deaths of her children,” said Cruz.

“I want to further commend the professionalism and the work of the Duxbury first responders, and the Mass. State Police. I’m sure many of them will not forget what they saw last evening. I think we should all be grateful to the men and women that put a uniform on, that are willing to do this difficult and challenging job.”

Mutual aid from nearby towns responded to the scene to support the Duxbury Police and Fire Departments.

Through decades of service, many classified this as the worst scene they’ve encountered.

“On behalf of the entire Fire Department, are thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this tragic event, their family members, and all the members of our regional public safety community who responded,” said Duxbury Fire Chief Rob Reardon. “Tragedies like these are always difficult to comprehend and process. We may be left struggling with many emotions. Please know, that all public safety personnel have been offered, and will continue to be offered, needed support.”

Duxbury Town Manager René Read says following the response, fire, police, and dispatch personnel who were at the scene or provided support were relieved of duty.

“As we continue to investigate this painful incident, I’d like to thank the Massachusetts State Police, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Duxbury Fire Department for their help, and the many other surrounding agencies for their support and offering of resources,” said Duxbury Police Chief Michael Carbone.

A critical incident stress debriefing team, the Metro Law Enforcement Council, and State Police peer support groups were called to help responders.

“We offer our sincerest gratitude to these groups, for their support of our departments. The Town of Duxbury is providing the stress and follow-up support that is necessary to each of the men and women of these departments. As you all know, the service of our first responders, that they provide to our community on a daily basis is truly remarkable,” said Read. “In these seemingly impossible moments, our support for them is absolutely critical.”

While the town cannot accept monetary donations, many people have been donating food to Duxbury and departments in surrounding towns.
