The Hull Police Department says they de-escalated a situation with a resident who barricaded themselves in a home with a rifle.

Police Chief John Dunn said in a statement they responded to a home on Beacon Road around 10:30 a.m. for an adult who was threatening to harm themselves.

The Norwell, Hingham, Cohasset, and Scituate Police Departments responded to the scene.

A reverse 9-1-1 call advised nearby residents to shelter in place. After about 45 minutes of negotiation, the resident went out to first responders. He was transported to a nearby hospital.

They are not being identified at this time, and have not been charged with a crime.

There were no injuries, and a rifle was secured at the scene.
