The Cohasset Fire Department and nearby towns responded to a two-alarm fire at a home on 725 Jerusalem Road.

Fire Chief John Dockray said the cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Cohasset Police. As of Friday night, the cause was undetermined.

Police Chief Bill Quigley said 39-year-old Ana Walshe lived at the home. Walshe has been missing since January 1, and police have been looking for information about her whereabouts.

“They sold the house several months ago,” said Quigley. “There’s another family living here now. Those are the people that called and reported the fire today.”

Dockray said two adults, a nanny, and a 21-month-old infant were at the Jerusalem Road home when the fire broke out around 2:14 p.m. on Friday. First arriving crews found heavy smoke at the left-front of the building.

“On my arrival, approximately two minutes later, we had more heavy smoke coming from the roofline. I ordered a second alarm at that time, to bring in communities from Scituate, Hull, and Hingham to assist us in extinguishing this fire,” said Dockray. “Norwell Fire is covering our headquarters station.”

Dockray said it took more than an hour to knock down the heavy fire. Crews chased pockets of fire under the roof after it caved in.

“The challenge was, the fire ended up getting up into the attic space, and we had extreme difficulty trying to access the attic,” said Dockray. “Once the fire started coming out through the roof, we had to pull our members out of the building and go to an exterior attack.”

Earlier this afternoon, MetroLEC and State Police were searching a wooded area near 400 Chief Justice Cushing Highway (Route 3A), near the home where Walshe was last seen, looking for any clues.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cohasset Police.
