In Plymouth, Town Manager Derek Brindisi and key town staff, including, among others, the Finance Director, the Town Clerk and the Director of Marine and Environmental Affairs, addressed the Community Preservation Committee, or CPC on the 12th, concerning communication with the CPC.

Town Manager Derek Brindisi says he and other staff…
“…wanted to speak with CPC to really focus our attention around how we can increase communication, look at the processes that are in place today and try to figure out where are some of the weakness and then, try to strengthen those weaknesses,” said Brindisi. “I would like to see the CPC—and David would focus on this—allow applicants to come before them and present their projects.”
And, that would be David Gould, Director of Marine and Environmental Affairs, who spoke saying he’s looking for more of an opportunity to attend CPC meetings, and as a project proponent to explain, in person, an application and the background of it and why his department believes the project is important.”
CPC Chairman Bill Keohan:
“The Community Preservation Committee is open to this discussion of improving the lines of communication between the Committee and staff,” said Keohan. “We have 21 years of success; we can build on that.”
And concerning those 21 years, during public comment, about a dozen people spoke in support of Keohan’s efforts; Sharl Heller was one of them:
“Bill Keohan received the 2016 Award for Outstanding Achievement In Open-Space Stewardship from the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions,” said Heller. “The reason Bill received this is because of his extraordinary volunteer efforts. His enthusiasm, his just dogged determination to make things happen, that’s what makes him so special.”
