In Plymouth, in the aftermath of the pandemic, many people have experienced isolation, loss and disruption, leading to what is now a mental health crisis. So, it’s an invaluable time for the state to be opening walk-in Community Behavioral Health Centers…this according to Sarah Cloud, who directs Social Services at Plymouth’s Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, or BID.
WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more.
BID’s Social Service Director Sarah Cloud:
“This is a really well timed initiative, after the holiday—so hard for so many people—for good reasons. And so, the State of Massachusetts is launching these Community Behavioral Health Centers, effective January 3rd.”
There are 25 Centers located state-wide, and there is one in Plymouth…
“…at 61 Industrial Park Road. It is a partnership between High Point Treatment Center and Child and Family Services and it will be for adults and youth, alike.”
So, Cloud says, offered by the state’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services, “…the service is going to be a walk-in urgent care center. This is going to be for folks who are experiencing a depression, anxiety, other stressors or, even substance abuse.”
Director Cloud explains that regardless of insurance status…
“…you’re not going to be turned away at the door because of your health insurance or lack-of. They will help you in the point of a crisis or an urgent situation in your life and get you going in the right direction.”
