Meet our pup of the week, Bee!

Bee the pup - ScituateAnimalShelter.org

This is Bee. Bee has spent the last three years sitting in a wire crate waiting to find a home of her own. Bee is with our friends at Scituate Animal Shelter who tell us this Chihuahua mix is older, somewhere around 10-years-old. She is blind and she has muscle weakness, likely from years not using them, but neither slow Bee down!

Bee has been in a foster home and is learning about how amazing life can be. With frequent walks, adventures to the beach and hikes, she is getting stronger! Oh and Bee loves squeaky toys!

Bee enjoys other dogs but barks a lot to engage in play. Some dogs may be bothered by this and she may be best as an only dogs. She is likely fine with cats in the home.

Bee would do best in a more quiet home. She is not housebroken and is getting over a urinary tract infection. She also has a tick born illness that is being treated. We suspect once she finished up her antibiotics she will be in good health.

Bee quickly bonds with her people and is also friendly with strangers. She will likely be ok with children in the home as well as long as they are respectful of dogs.

Bee is really excited to live the good life now, in the loving arms of her new person.

All dogs are fixed, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and heartworm tested before adoption. Open hours at Scituate Animal Shelter are Wednesdays 1:30 – 6 pm and Saturdays 10am – 2pm for you to view adoptable pets. You can apply for animal at the shelter during open hours or online by emailing adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org and asking for an application. Bee’s adoption fee is $250. Meet and greets with animals are scheduled after applications have been processed and you’ve been determined to be the best fit.

February is normally a very busy month for adoptions at the Scituate Animal Shelter but this year they’ve seen a real slow down in adoptions.  SAS has a very full shelter right now, especially for dogs, and not enough families looking to adopt!  They want to encourage everyone to go to ScituateAnimalShelter.org to see the great dogs who are waiting for your family. Dogs currently staying include three lab mix puppies, two friendly golden retrievers, a special needs golden doodle, and more!

Visit our Pet of the Week page to see all of our past adoption highlights. You may find just the right perfect friend to add to your family!
