In Scituate, Fire Chief John Murphy says the cause of a five-alarm fire that destroyed five homes near Minot Beach is still under investigation.
In an interview with WATD’s Christine James, he says more than 65 firefighters from 11 communities responded to the scene.
There were no injuries to firefighters or residents.
Three other homes were impacted by the fire. Murphy says they’ve had to battle other large scale fires — especially in March of 2013.
Some of the equipment and training has made a difference for modern firefighting.
The Red Cross and Scituate Community Christmas are working to provide transitional housing and support services for those impacted by the fire.
