In Duxbury, voters strongly opposed a proposed bylaw change at Special Town Meeting.
A citizen’s petition asked residents to consider a zoning by-law change to allow for a bed and breakfast in town by-right, rather than special permit approval.
About 900 residents were in attendance for the meeting at the Performing Arts Center. By a vote of 840 to 50, voters rejected the proposed bylaw change.

Attorney Christopher Davidson, speaking for the petitioners, says the approval process is easier for short-term rentals, citing 48 in town, though public records.
He says there were two applicants for special permits, zero were recommended.
Ultimately, the article was not approved. The Duxbury Special Town Meeting concluded in one night.
