Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll announced highlights of their Fiscal Year 2024 budget, which was filed Wednesday. Healey says the $55.5 billion dollar budget is “Meeting the moment: with a strong economy, livable communities, and a
sustainable future.”
Healey says this is a 4.1 percent spending growth over the last fiscal year. The budget implements $1 billion dollars in spending through the Fare Share Fund and other sources of revenue. Voters approved the ballot measure for a 4 percent surtax on income above $1 million dollars.
She says the budget fully funds the Student Opportunity Act, with an increase in funding for Chapter 70 School Aid, and universal Pre-K. The budget is filed in addition to a $750 million dollar tax relief package Healey and her administration filed.
