In Hingham, a nearly $8 million budget override and a contested Planning Board Race were on the ballot for the Annual Town Election.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the town used one-time federal and local reserve funds to offset deficits in FY 22 and FY 23.
The town was seeking to bridge the funding gap, or would have had to reduce services to balance this year’s budget.
With unofficial results, voters approved the override with 3,491 “yes” votes, and 2,106 “no” votes.
The override was also approved at Town Meeting.
For Planning Board, Tracy Shriver was elected with 3,164 votes.
Thomas Patch had 1,589 votes.
Michael Puzo was re-elected as Town Moderator with 4,477 votes, and Bill Ramsey was re-elected to the Select Board with 4,458 votes in the uncontested races.
Michelle Ayer (3,971 votes) and Jennifer Benham (3,857 votes) were elected to two open School Committee seats.
