The Kingston Police and Fire departments organized an Active Shooter Hostile Event Response training for first responders around the region.
With school vacation week, dozens of first responders practiced real-life scenarios at the Silver Lake Regional High School.
Kingston Detective Lieutenant, Mike Skowyra says a lot goes into these training sessions.
Departments included Kingston, Carver, Plymouth, Duxbury, Pembroke, Hansen, Halifax, and Plympton.
Kingston Police Chief Maurice Splaine says training for active shooters began after Columbine in 1999.
They continue to train in response to critical incidents.
Lena Jackunas was among the volunteers for practice drills.
Craig McGill, who volunteered as part of the training, says this is good practice for first responders.
