Do you hear that? Hound lovers can. That is the sound of Baxter baying hello!
Baxter is a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix and our friends at Scituate Animal Shelter tell us he is fun-loving, smart and enjoys his time outside. Nose to ground, Baxter loves to have a job and a focus! He is always looking to keep himself busy and would love a fenced yard to explore and patrol. We would really love to find him a home with another dog — playing with another canine really helps get his energy out! Baxter would be a great jogging, hiking or swim buddy for an active family! Baxter is treat motivated and eager to please. He will be an excellent student to someone willing to put in the work.
Baxter came to the shelter when he was about 9 months old. He is now a year old and has been watching other dogs around him get adopted. It’s his time to shine.
This large guy is super friendly with all. He will be very loud when on leash and spots other dogs but he really just wants to make new friends. Baxter is extremely strong and will need someone who can handle him. He has been learning to walk very nicely on a front-connect harness.
Being a big ol’ hound, we are looking for a home for Baxter without small animals or cats. He would likely really enjoy another dog to be his buddy! Baxter is big, strong and goofy so older teens and adults are preferred.
Open hours at the Scituate Animal Shelter are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm. You can apply for Baxter at the shelter during our open hours or online by emailing adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org and asking for an application.
