A Weymouth man charged in the murder of a Marshfield couple and killing their pet dog, has been ordered held without bail at his Superior Court arraignment (Tuesday) in Brockton.
28-year-old Christopher Keeley is charged in the murders of Carl and Vicki Mattson, in November of 2022, at their Gotham Hill Drive home.
Keeley plead not guilty to several charges including two counts of murder, animal cruelty, fraudulent use of a credit card and car theft.
The couple was found dead inside their home on November 29 after a request for a well being check from friends of Keeley’s.
Their dog was later found inside an oven by crime scene technicians, dying from a lack of oxygen
A request several days earlier from other friends of Keeley’s for a well being check, went no further as nobody answered the door and nothing seemed to be out of order.
Prosecutors said Keeley, a friend of the Mattson’s son, had lived in their home briefly earlier that fall.
Prosecutors also believe that Keeley had come into the Mattson home (unknown to them) and was in an upstairs bathroom. Carl went upstairs to check on the dog barking, got into a fight with Keeley, and was later found deceased at the bottom of the stairs.
Vicki Mattson was found deceased with a knife in her neck.
Keeley, reportedly stole the couple’s jeep and a credit card from the couple before heading to Florida. He was arrested in Miami on December 2 after an alleged attack on another man using a hammer.
Keeley is due back in court on June 29th
