Emergency Water Ban in Effect in Pembroke
— WATD 95.9 News & Talk Radio, South Shore Massachusetts
In Pembroke, an emergency water ban is in effect until further notice.
The town is in the process of rehabilitating water production wells, with an estimated completion date of June 23rd.
Until then, the town is not able to meet demand created by outdoor water usage.
This is causing severely low water levels in storage tanks, and low water pressure for residents, businesses, and the fire department.
The town requested that residents decrease water use, but that has not been effective, and now the use is higher than the system’s ability to recharge.
Residents are urged to cease using water that would be needed in the event of an emergency – this includes washing automobiles, watering lawns, and filling swimming pools.
Unnecessary water use will result in fines.
