Hingham Police Chief David Jones says his department is fully-cooperating with Stoneham Police after a Hingham officer allegedly brandished a firearm on a roadway.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office says Joel Salituri, a 43-year-old from Stoneham, was arraigned on charges in Woburn District Court after he was accused of brandishing a firearm during a verbal altercation.
In December of 2022, he was traveling on Route 93 northbound, and a victim was followed to a parking lot on Main Street. It’s alleged Salituri began yelling at the victim, making derogatory statements, while brandishing a firearm.
After last week’s arraignment, Salituri was released on personal recognizance. He’s been placed on administrative leave by Hingham Police, per department policy.
Hingham Police Chief, David Jones, said in a statement any threat against a member of the community will be taken seriously, and will be investigated. He said they are committed to being open and transparent during this, and any other internal investigation.
The next court date was scheduled for May 24.
