A Duxbury police officer has been indicted.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that 51-year-old Steven J. Amado of Plymouth, allegedly falsified a police report and intimidated a witness during an investigation.
Amado was indicted by a Plymouth County grand jury on Friday on one count each of Misleading a Police Officer, Intimidation of a Police Officer, and False Crime Report.
He is accused of intentionally misidentifying the driver of a motor vehicle while investigating a traffic incident with property damage that occurred on May 6.
It also alleged that Amado misled the police department and intimidated a fellow officer involved with the investigation.
The DA’s Office says that once they were notified of the incident, Duxbury Police immediately launched an investigation and contacted them.
Amado is currently on administrative leave from the department, and has been an officer for 24 years.
He will be arraigned at a later date.
