In Plymouth, the town’s designation as a Green Community, achieved in December of 2022, has allowed the town to receive a $270,000 grant to be used for energy reduction projects.
At their meeting on the 13th, the Select Board accepted the grant.

Selectman Chair Dick Quintal says the grant is significant:
“It’s very important to the people of Plymouth. It’s a Green Communities designation grant and we’re going to use it in several areas.”
Those areas include the Animal Shelter, Memorial Hall, Plymouth South Middle School and Town Hall.
Quintal says the state looks upon Plymouth as a town that can meet the requirements of a Green Community:
“We’re well under way here in Plymouth. We’ve shored up our waterfront which is what we’re doing right now. And there’s some big projects—you see the wall around the waste-water treatment facility. That’s so when the water rises it doesn’t go into our facility and take it out of service. We are replacing that main sewer line. We had an issue but that’s been resolved; it actually is getting ahead of their schedule.”
