In Plymouth, Dick Quintal chairs the Select Board. He received the most votes out of six candidates for Select Board in the town election last month, and easily held on to his seat.
Quintal talks about the goals he hopes to achieve this term.
WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more…
Selectman Quintal says several issues are a concern:
“We have infrastructure issues, our water distribution, our cemeteries, traffic on Long Pond Road and the Cedarville rotary are all on my radar.”
Also on Quintal’s radar is an improved relationship with the Committee of Precinct Chairs:
“Relating to reaching out to our Precinct Chairs, I want to try that again and see if we can’t get a better dialogue—and the Planning Board because I feel the Planning Board, Select Board have to set the direction for the community so we’re all on the same page.”
And being on the same page involves…
“…expand our historic district and change some of our Zoning bylaws. It hasn’t been done in a while and that’s the problem we have in Plymouth, with all the building, people say ‘what are you doing?’—it’s the zoning the way it’s set right now.”
Also on Quintal’s to-do list…
“…create a parcel in Plymouth, working with the Master Plan Committee and the Planning Board for a business park. We need a business park somewhere in Plymouth so we can alleviate some of the higher taxes on some of the senior residents and the working parents in town.”
And in respect for the issues that are pertinent to different sections of town, the Selectman Chair wants to:
“…have at least one Select Board meeting in each village in the course of a year.”
