This talk will explore the amazing world of fungi. Although often overlooked, we must understand that fungi are key to the health and stability of ecosystems. They are an incredible and beautiful kingdom of species that not only benefit our environment, but us as people.
We will also discuss the role of fungi specifically in our local environment, and the part they play within our pine barrens.
Aaron Keaton is a mycologist currently based out of Plymouth, MA. A graduate from Keene State College, he has continued to study fungi throughout New Hampshire as well as in his hometown of Plymouth. Aaron’s work emphasizes the ecological role of fungi, highlighting the benefits they provide for the environment. He is also interested in their practical use as food, medicine, and their impact on culture.
