In Plymouth, the tall ship Nao Trinidad, is a Spanish ship, and the flag of Spain can now be seen rippling in the breeze, flying from the ship’s stern, in the harbor.
The vessel is a replica of the first ship to sail around the world—and the history books say this occurred sometime between 1519 and 1522—at the time, the greatest maritime achievement in history. WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more.
Captain Carlos Lorente says the ship was previously docked in Newburyport:
“So, the trip was short because we came from Newburyport—and then once we came through the Canal–it was a lot of fishing buoys, and those things—and also huge, and very strong current. So, it’s lovely to be here in Plymouth. Welcome and please come on board.”
And to do just that, tickets can be purchased on the ship, or at www.naotrinidad.org. The tickets cost $15 for adults and $5 for children. The charge for a family is $35.00. Tours are from 10AM to 8PM.
Sponsored by the Plymouth Area of Chamber of Commerce, the Nao Trinidad will be in port through July 23rd.
