In Plymouth, about 7,200 students hit the books today in eight elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, and an alternative high school.
Pre-kindergarten starts after Labor Day, but for some 1,400 teachers, school began yesterday with a rousing teachers’ day celebration at North High School.
WATD’s Bobbi Clark has this…
Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Christopher Campbell says the celebration pays tribute to about 60 new teachers as well as veteran staff…
“…who have inspired us—inspired so many people, and then we also celebrated our students. This year’s theme is; ‘Just Be Yourself’–and the theme was submitted by students. There was a contest to see which theme would rise to the top.”
Rising to the top are those who received the Dr. Gary Maestas Inspirational award. These are staff members who have been an inspiration to their colleagues in the district and nominated by the faculty. They are: Michaela Hood, Colleen White, KimMarie Lopes, and Heather Mento.
And Dr. Campbell also says the district will be initiating…
“…a new strategic plan that will guide us for the next three years. We’re in the process of submitting a statement of interest with the MSBA at the state for a new elementary school—in the north Plymouth area.”
