Members of the SAG-AFTRA union rallied in Boston on Labor Day.
SAG-AFTRA New England President Andrea Lyman says a big issue of concern is how A.I., or Artificial Intelligence will be used in film production.
Actors Daniel Washington said A.I. can’t replace the work done by true performers.
Among those showing their support was Senator Elizabeth Warren, who said actors need better compensation, with most SAG-AFTRA actors “scraping by on less than $27,000 a year.”
The union also wants to see improvements made to the way actors are compensated for movies and programs that screen on streaming services.
Gov. Maura Healey, Senator Ed Markey, and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley also voiced their support for the striking actors.
