In Plymouth, at Town Hall on the 21st, State Senator Susan Moran delivered the goods— $70,000 worth—to help in funding the Master Plan.
And concerning the Master Plan, Article 8 will go to Town Meeting to see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, transfer from available funds, or borrow $430,000 to prepare a new Master Plan, and the $70,000 check delivered by Moran will help. WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more.
State Senator Moran spoke about the importance of a Master Plan:
“I recognize not only the importance but the fact that it’s money well spent.”
Town Manager Derek Brindisi:
“I’ll start by saying that this is really under the leadership of the Planning Board, but what’s happening today with the Master Planning process is just another example of the Planning Board and the Select Board getting together and thinking of long-term strategic planning.”
And a major part of that strategic planning is the Master Plan, says Steven Bolotin, Vice-Chair of the Planning Board:
“The Master Plan, in my opinion is the most important document in the entirety of Plymouth because the Master Plan is a reflection of the what the community wants to see their town look like going forward.”
And as for the $70,000 state grant, Bolotin says:
“When we look at what other towns have spent when they’re scrimping and saving to try and do a Master Plan, we get a Master Plan that is neither forward thinking nor implementable. We are looking to avoid those problems—these funds will be invaluable in achieving that goal.”
Town Meeting is scheduled for October 21st at the Plymouth North High School.
