Cohasset Square To Be Renamed After Late Navy SEAL
— WATD 95.9 News & Talk Radio, South Shore Massachusetts
A Cohasset square named in memory of a former resident who died during his time in the Navy.
Town officials say that the Square at Sohier St. and Fair Oaks Lane will be renamed in memory of Chief Naval Special Warfare Operator Michael T. Ernst who died during a training exercise earlier this year.
The event took place on Sunday and was followed by the Rededication of the Gold Star Mothers Memorial at the Woodside Cemetery, where Ernst’s mother Mary T Ernst will also be honored.
Ernst grew up in Cohasset and graduated from Thayer Academy and Denison College and enlisted in the Navy in 2009.
He became a Navy SEAL in 2012 and among his many military awards and decorations was the Silver Star, awarded for valor in combat.
