East Bridgewater Police have identified a suspect involved in a hit-and-run crash involving a juvenile riding a bicycle.
The incident took place shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday when East Bridgewater Police received a 911 call reporting a crash involving a bicyclist and a motor vehicle in the area of 143 Bedford St.
Police Chief Michael Jenkins says an initial investigation determined that an 11-year-old girl was riding a bicycle through a small path that leads from Route 18 to the rear parking lot of Central Elementary School when she was struck by a vehicle.
She was evaluated at the scene by East Bridgewater Fire paramedics, and her mother declined medical transportation.
Jenkins says that they later identified the suspect as a 62-year-old woman from Florida and she will be summonsed by Brockton District Court on charges of Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Personal Injury.
Anyone with more information on this incident or on the vehicle involved is asked to call East Bridgewater Police at 508-378-7223.
