Marshfield Police responded to a call after a resident reported the sound of gunshots being fired near Ocean Street and Foster Ave.
Monday evening, the caller told police they saw ‘’flashing lights’’ coming from a home and an ‘’older gentleman pacing back and forth on the porch’’.
Police identified 66-year-old David Planchard as a suspect. He allowed officers to enter the home, they said they could smell a strong odor of alcohol.
Officers then located an empty firearm magazine on the kitchen table and did a protective sweep of the property. They discovered two Sig Sauer handguns unsecured in a kitchen drawer. Two more handguns were located in the home.
Spent bullet casings were found in a nearby bush. Officers also found bullet holes in neighboring homes located close to Planchard’s house and yard. Police say that the incident did not appear to be directed at any victim or neighbor.
Planchard is facing numerous charges that include: improper storage of a firearm, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, and disturbing the peace. The handguns and ammunition were taken as evidence. A shotgun and rifle were also taken from the property.
