Officials say they have identified the two individuals responsible for the vandalism at a Catholic Church in East Bridgewater.

Police Chief Michael Jenkins and Fire Chief Timothy M. Harhen say that on Friday afternoon, East Bridgewater Police and Fire responded to St. John the Evangelist Church, 210 Central St., for a report of vandalism.

An initial investigation determined that there was a fire set near the alter, which caused damage to the alter cloth and a Bible.

Police were then able to identify the suspects as 12-year-old juveniles, one male and one female.

Since the suspects are juveniles officials say their names will not be released and that no charges are being filed at this time.
