Police are investigating after a fatal motor vehicle crash on Monday in Marshfield, between a large Marshfield police vehicle and an SUV, at Plain Street and Lady Slipper Lane, around 10:30 a.m.
Marshfield Police and Fire responded to the scene, and found the female operator of a red Subaru Forester with injuries.
She was transported to the hospital where was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as 79-year-old Michelle Freestone of Marshfield.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office says in the preliminary investigation it appears the operator of the Subaru turned left in front of a surplus military vehicle, and contact was made between the two vehicles.
The Marshfield Police vehicle operator was not responding to a call at the time of the crash.
For several hours Plain St (Rt. 139) was closed between Flaggler Drive and Old Plain St.
