In Whitman, a special election was held for the Middle School Building Project.
The project is estimated to cost $135 million, with the Mass. School Building Authority paying about $60 million.
It was approved by a majority vote at Special Town Meeting, and at the ballot box, voters approved the project with 1,005 “yes” votes and 837 “no” votes.
Town Clerk Dawn Varley says 16 percent of the more than 11,500 registered voters cast ballots in the election.
