A teenage girl was injured following a roll over car crash in Hingham Wednesday night.
Hingham Police say that at approximately 8:21 p.m. officers responded to a crash on George Washington Blvd. in front of the Hingham District Courthouse.
Upon arrival they found a 2010 Hyundai Sonata, on its roof with the driver lying on the road.
An investigation determined the Hyundai was traveling north on George Washington Blvd. at a high rate of speed when it abruptly swerved over the center line into the oncoming lanes.
The car continued across the two oncoming southbound lanes, over the sidewalk, off the road into a large rock and trees, before rolling over and landing back in the southbound lanes.
No other cars were involved and the driver was alone.
The driver, identified only as a 17-year-old female, was transported to South Shore Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say she wasn’t wearing her seat belt and that it had been in the latched position behind the driver’s seat which is sometimes done to avoid the seat belt warning system when the seat belt is not used.
She has been issued citations for Negligent Operation; Marked Lanes Violation; Speeding; and Seat Belt Violation.
